My name is Chas Smith, I am the founder of ultimatemusiclessons.com. I just want to take a few moments to tell you about myself and my vision as a guitarist and teacher.
I have been playing guitar for about twelve years now. Starting off I tried to just learn on my own, gathering information from books and cds. It didn’t take me long to plateau and become frustrated trying to improve on the guitar. I took group classes while in college and even went to several private guitar instructors. Shortly after I resorted to just learning on my own again, lucky enough to have some friends and roommates that could give me pointers.
With a lot of time and hard work I was able to get to a level of guitar playing that I felt comfortable enough to start a band. I was very blessed in that band to have the opportunity to record several albums, get signed to a record label, tour all over the world, and meet tons of awesome people. A serious neck injury suffered by our drummer caused the other members and myself to put an end to that band and start other projects.
Since then I have played for several bands and solo artists. I have been able to do more recording and get back out on the road touring again. I have been able to work with amazing musicians, producers, engineers, and bands.
The time in between bands really allowed me to focus on improving my guitar playing. And as I was doing so, I was amazed once again to find out how few resources there are out there that actually do what they say they do. So many guitar courses are just a straight up rip-off.
So I decided to develop my own course that I knew could help aspiring guitar players. And because I had tried everything on my own, I knew what to avoid and how to create a unique method of learning the guitar that actually works! Over several years I developed and tweaked the course that is now available on www.ultimatemusiclessons.com. I came to a point where I felt it was time for me to give back to people what music has given me. All the great opportunities I have been lucky enough to have, makes me excited to help people achieve their own goals.
My goal with Ultimate Music Lessons is to build it into the best music lessons resource in the world. I hope that I will see you soon and have the opportunity to teach you everything I have learned!
